Pity Nigeria Private School Teachers by Elochukwu Ohagi

Pity Nigeria Private School Teachers

I was looking at them and immediately I started questioning exactly the type of students these ones will be producing.

Teachers they called themselves, but among them I saw not just cowards, but people very much unworthy to guide the future generation. Forgive me, for I am not generalizing.

No wonder people are still supporting the same politicians raping them mercilessly from behind. Teachers who believes only God will save us, are the ones handling our future generation. No wonder we produce only picture snapping social media users as students.

The future is not bright with some people calling themselves Teachers as drivers of the future. They are reproducing mostly what they are, cowards.

But yet, I pity them. I mean them Teachers. Yes, I do. Who can ever survive what they are surviving? Especially, those of them in the private sector. Covid-19 came and for months they went on with absolutely nothing. When the time came, students paid half of the school fees, yet some schools are yet to pay their Teachers same half salaries. They won't complain. They have been programmed not to complain.

There is absolutely nothing put in place by the government to protect private school Teachers. They are at the mercies of the proprietors. They are not issued appointment letters and can be thrown out at any time, without payment. Reason they turned into cowards. Jobs needs to be protected, even if it entails becoming a coward.

This is December. Many private school Teachers will go home for Christmas without their salaries. The school doesn't pay Christmas salaries till January. That is the law. They are afraid some Teachers will take the salary and will not return.

But...

They worked for it. It is their money. You didn't give them an appointment letter and yet afraid they will leave with their own sweat without notice. You feel paying them their money is them cheating you. No, it isn't. You know that anything goes in Nigeria and you feel you can do anything and nothing will ever happen.

Nigeria has no reason to continue existing. Nigeria has damaged lots of psyches.
